MTN Turns 20 Years, Celebrates With Nigerians

Telecommunication giant MTN is 20 years today and the company is celebrating with millions of its users. The company, which began operation in Nigeria back in August 8, 2001, has since managed to steal the number spot as the preferred network of choice by Nigerians. MTN is not just the biggest mobile network in Nigeria, but also the biggest in African due to the numbers of subscribers in Nigeria.

As part of the company’s celebration, it has planned numerous national projects in the country. Part of these include the commissioning an ultra-modern head office in Nigeria to be powered by renewable energy. The company also, plans to participate in Nigeria’s Road Infrastructure Tax Credit (RITC) Scheme. As part of the scheme, MTN will be kick starting this with the reconstructing of the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway.

MTN controls the largest shares of the telecommunication business in Nigeria. According to reports, the company has close to 70 million active subscribers in communities across the country. It recently posted a record staggering N790.3b increase in the month of June 2021. Despite all the odds and challenges posed by the Nigeria market, MTN has managed to dominate and grow to by the biggest telecom service not just in Nigeria, but also in African.

As part of the celebration, customers on the network will be enjoying some amazing offer from the tech giant. Some of these include all MTN subscribers on the network, making their first (1st) call of the day fro free, up to five (5) minutes. Also, the company will be gifting all subscribers, a whooping 200MB worth of data for free. All these, will be made available on Sunday, August 8th 2021.
