QD-OLED Technology: Samsung Answer To LG’s OLED TV

QD-OLED TV

South Korean TV maker LG took the world by storm when it officially announced the world’s first 55-inch OLED TV. The word OLED meaning, organic light-emitting diode was a technology designed to revolutionize the way Television are made. The OLED panel came with a better picture quality, making it toast for TV lovers. Up till date, the OLED TV, is still one of the best TV around.

Since the introduction, we have seen many TV makers and brand fighting to keep up. Samsung also a South Korean manufacture, has been in that fight. The tech giant launched the QLED TV, which was its answer, back then to the LG OLED TV. While this was a good move, the QLED was still not up to the standard of the OLED, which had a better picture quality. Now, the company is having a rethink and currently working on a better contender for the OLED TV. According to reports, the tech company is working on its latest TV set that will be based on the QD-OLED technology.

The QD-OLED or Quantum Dot OLED technology, is a hybrid of both QLED and OLED technologies. The technology is designed to improve the brightness and color. With these, you can enjoy a more bright and vivid colour on the TV set as well as a better viewing angle.

While the Quantum Dot OLED technology (QD-OLED panel) may sound complex, analysts believe that it may be way cheaper when compared to its OLED counterpart. The first QD-OLED TV is expected to arrive in the first half of 2022. It will be available in 55-inch, 65-inch and 70-inch model. Samsung might showcase its first QD-OLED TVs at the Consumer Electronics Show 2022 in Las Vegas come January.

One of the main downsides of OLED TV panels, it the burn-in issues. With the introduction of the QD-OLED, the problem may be eliminated. We don’t know for now, but we hope to see what the technology have of us.
