Apple has officially announced the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus smartphones. The duo is coming as the company’s latest iPhone, and the successor of iPhone 13 launched last year. The smartphones feature a 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch OLED Super Retina XDR displays respectively, with 60Hz refresh rate. They came with A15 bionic processor, and also has the Ceramic Shield protection that was introduced in the iPhone 12.
Both the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus runs on iOS 16 and comes in 128GB, 256GB, 512GB storage options. They are both water and dust resistant (IP68) and also dual SIMs enabled. The back of the phones features a new 12MP Main camera with a larger sensor and larger pixels, while the front comes with new front TrueDepth camera and an Ultra Wide camera to capture more of a scene, as well as a Photonic Engine that improves mid- to low-light performance for photos across all cameras: up to 2x on the Ultra Wide camera, 2x on the TrueDepth camera, and 2.5x on the new Main camera, says Apple.
The True Tone flash is 10% brighter and has better uniformity for more consistent lighting when compared to the predecessor. There is a new Action mode for incredibly smooth-looking video that adjusts to significant shakes, motion, and vibrations, even when video is being captured in the middle of the action. The phones comes with a Crash Detection feature that can now detect a severe car crash and automatically dial emergency services when a user is unconscious or unable to reach their iPhone. The barometer can now detect cabin pressure changes, the GPS for additional input for speed changes, and the microphone, which can recognize loud noises typified by severe car crashes.
